A Rowing Center of Excellence, 6, 225' feet above sea level
The first high-altitude rowing center in North America, our training center offers a truly distinctive training environment for scullers, combining the challenge of elevation with expert coaching - all in the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Join us to Celebrate Summer Rowing on Lake Tahoe in the Tahoe Summer 2025 RowFest
RowFest on Lake Tahoe is a place to row, train and race at altitude, meet new friends, try new fun races, participate in short courses and drop-out / eliminator races - RowFest is the perfect antidote to your summer training slump, a jump-start to get back in shape for fall races - and most importantly, meet local, regional and national rowers and have fun on the crystal clear blue waters of Lake Tahoe!
Tahoe is home to the annual RowFest with a regulation-length flat water course as well as open- water / coastal rowing race and multiple-heat “eliminator” races. It is the highest-elevation rowing event in the United States, attracting participants from across the region and beyond.
We have partnered with Granlibakken Resort in Tahoe City for team lodging! Click here for more information.
This “short” course provides competitors with a more traditional rowing experience, better suited for racing boats. It offers participants the chance to compete with visiting and local crews in both their single and team boats. All entries are placed into two large brackets. Don't worry, we have handicaps for different categories by boat type, sex, and age.
Additionally, you can bring your own small boat (read: singles) - or - NTAC will have boats for rent for a 250M "Elimination" race that eliminates one competitor per turn of the course. Tons of fun and a very different rowing experience, "Elimination" or "Drop-Out" races are particularly well suited to boats that turn and maneuver easily - we use WinTech trainers based on SUP technology, which will be provided by NTAC to interested competitors.
Important to the course design, it allows spectators to be part of the action, with opportunities to cheer on athletes from various vantage points, including the Tahoe City Pier and TC Marina docks. Following the races, a reception and award ceremony at the Tahoe Yacht Club will provide an opportunity for attendees to mingle with prior Olympic medalists and hear their inspiring stories and allowing the public to get up close and personal with a rich and historical sport. We end at Commons Beach, where participants can relax or go for a swim.
As we gear up for a summer filled with excitement and adventure, we invite you to join us for the our Tahoe Summer Rowing Festival and to be a part of this new chapter of rowing on Lake Tahoe.
